FAQS
The secret to a lasting and quality manicure always lies in the prep. That is, preparation. Think of it as a quality canvas, on which to paint. As such, the essential tools for manicure to always have on hand are the following:
- Cuticle pushers: essential to free up the maximum space on your nail plate, and allow clean application of polish.
- Cuticle nippers: to remove dead skin, and prepare the cleanest possible plate for gel or nail polish application.
- Nail file: needed to shape the nail, smooth out the edges.
- Buffer: essential to sand the nail surface, ensuring it becomes matte, for the polish to properly apply.
- Nail brush: use it to remove dust and residue.
Generally speaking, the basic tools remain the same - nail brush, nail file, buffer, cuticle nippers, and cuticle pushers - whether you’re advanced or a beginner. And there’s nothing wrong with keeping things simple! However, if you want to make even more of your mani, some equipment comes into play. Here, you will do well to invest in LMM’s E-file Nail Drill, which is also perfectly suited for beginners. This all-in-one tool covers polish, prep and gel removal, and rotates in 2 directions for convenient use. As far as at home manicure tools go, you can also explore our range of LED lamps. Starting with our Mini, a one-finger curing lamp, up to Le Pro, a Maxi lamp which can cure 5 fingers (or toes) at a time. Then there’s the compact Demi lamp, of 9 Watts, which is extra compact, and good for on-the-go manis.
Besides the abovementioned general nail tools, which are all-purpose for gel and nail polish, Le Mini Macaron provides a useful nail drill to help with gel removal. It’s easy, quick and effortless. Of course it should be mentioned that the curing lamp is an essential part of gel nail application. Le Mini Macaron specializes in LED lamps, from single finger to multi-finger, as well as foot use. Last but not least is our ceramic Cuticle pusher. An exfoliating pen revitalizes your nails & cuticles with lovely lavender oil.
A tool is only as good as the use it gives you. Which means it’s not just about their condition, but how well they can help you with your next mani. For this reason, it’s important to always clean your manicure tools and equipment after use, and if needed, disinfect them. Cleaning tools is as simple as rinsing them in soap and water (preferably lukewarm) and drying thoroughly. If you want to sanitize them, submerge the nail tools for 10 minutes in a gentle disinfectant, rinse and dry carefully. Finally, looking after your tools means using and storing them properly, and replacing them when needed.
- Never apply a mani to an unprepped nail plate. Solution: be sure to file and buff your nails until they are matte. This improves adhesion.
- Once you’ve filed and buffed your nails, never blow on the nail to clear away residue. Solution: Use a nail brush.
- Don’t apply too much gel, and spill it onto the finger. Solution: You can use a cuticle pusher to remove any excess.
